One day, Zyuzin's team went to a competition, but she did not take it because she was still too small. Andrew was very upset because of that and decided to leave football. At the age of 8, he managed to convince his father to take him to the local hockey school. The school "Salavat Yulaev" has always occupied an important place in the junior tournaments. Therefore, Zyuzin had to work a lot to match the level. Over time, Andrei Zyuzin began to stand out among his peers. He began to be invited early in the professional team and the national team.
At the age of 16, Andrew made his debut on professional team Salavat Yulaev, who plays in the Russian Super League. For three years, this defender played 103 games and scored 29 points. The young hockey player wanted to become the main player of "Salavat Yulaev", then move on to the legendary CSKA. But his life was different. After the World Junior Championships, Andrei Zyuzin decided that he would play the most powerful league in the world - the NHL.
In the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Andrei Zyuzin was selected by the San Jose Sharks as number two. But in agreement with his native club, he finished the current season in Russia. At the end of the season, this defender was recognized as the best in the Super League and at age 19, he went on to conquer the strongest league on the planet. At first, Andrei had trouble adjusting to a new country. He came abroad, did not know English. The guy was lucky that Andrei Nazarov and Vitaly Kozlov are performing at the moment for the club. They helped Zyuzin in every way possible: they translated the coach's words and spoke about the new country. Andrei Zyuzin played 496 games with the San Jose Sharks.
Continuing careers in the NHL and lockout
After the magnificent San Jose Sharks season, Zyuzin Andrei lost his place in the formation. He started looking in other NHL clubs. But more than two seasons in the same club did not linger. In 2004, the lockout happened in the NHL and all players began to disperse in the other leagues. Andrei Zyuzin, an experienced hockey player, decided to return to Salavat Yulaev. In his home club, he played 14 games before moving to Severstal. Once the lockout was over, Zyuzin went to play abroad again. He first spent two seasons at the Calgary Flames Club and then Chicago.
Relocation to Russia
After the formation of the KHL, many Russian players playing in the NHL started to return to their country. Andrey Zyuzin, like many, decided to return to Russia and play for the SKA team in St. Petersburg. At that time, strong hockey players gathered in this club. However, the club failed to win the main trophy. In 2010, Andrew decided to move to "Atlant". In a new club for himself, this defender was quick to stay.
Continuing Careers and Coaching
Zyuzin, after a year in Atlanta, went to play in Switzerland. But after a season, he returned to his native country. He could finish his career, but decided to play in the weaker leagues. First, he spent two seasons in the Tyumen club "Rubin", which plays in the VHL. In 2014, I went to play in Belarus. It is in this country that Zyuzin played his last games with the status of player. In 2015, Andrew recreated the coaching staff of the club "Salavat Yulaev". His experience will undoubtedly allow the Ufa club to achieve high results.
Game for the national team
Andrei played for the national team in junior and junior tournaments. The national team's debut took place in 1996. At the Junior European Championships, our team won gold medals. This tournament for Zyuzin was very successful - he became the best defender of the tournament. And also in 1996 and 1997, this defender took part in the World Youth Championships. At both championships, the Russian team won the bronze medal. Zyuzin played for the adult national team in the first leg of the Euro Tour.
Andrei has been married for a while. He met his wife, Trisa, at a party organized by his friend and former teammate Andrei Nazarov. When Zyuzin returned to Russia, his wife and children followed him. His Vanya followed in his father's footsteps. He loves hockey and dreams of becoming a professional hockey player.
Andrey Zyuzin changed clubs during his long career. However, in his hockey career, there are no big wins. Especially in St. Petersburg: he was about to win the Gagarin Cup, but the SKA team was surprised by a draw. Currently, Zyuzin is trying to realize himself as a coach. Maybe in this role he will be able to achieve high results.
